Australian Immigration Minister David Coleman said that, Australia plans to expand the 'Working Holiday Maker' visa programme to over a dozen countries, including India, to recruit workers to solve the labour shortages problem in regional areas particularly on farms.
He also said Work and holiday applicants must meet minimum requirements before a visa can be granted, including having a functional level of English and they must hold or be studying towards tertiary qualifications
Currently, Australia offers the two types of Work and Holiday programme visa under Subclass 417 and subclass 462 now with Indian passport holders are also eligible for 462 subclass categories.
Eligibility for Australia working holiday visa for Indians
- Must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens up to 35 (inclusive)
- Must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction
- Must not be accompanied by dependent children
- Minimum qualification for working holiday visa.
